ADDITIONAL COMPENSATION:
- For Service, Technical Support, Marketing & Sales Roles: Additional compensation is available through either an Incentive and/or Commission Plan.
- For Employees who reside in Connecticut, Massachusetts, New Jersey, and California, additional compensation is offered through a Cost-of-Living Adjustment (COLA).
POSITION SUMMARY:
The individual in this position is responsible for a wide variety of sales, marketing, and business development functions to ensure growth within National Accounts. The primary functions will involve researching market/sales opportunities, developing a strategic business plan, executing the business plan, and evaluating new business development opportunities. The individual understands and anticipates market trends and opportunities and translates the information into actionable plans to satisfy customer needs while maintaining consistency with Shimadzus profit and business objectives. Other related duties may be assigned from time to time.
This position is to provide solutions from an applications point of view and high-level technical support for assigned products to the customers and sales organization to develop new sales opportunities. Will focus on coordinating with the field on the customer relationship/experiences.

JOB FUNCTIONS INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:
- To be the market expert on national accounts/program opportunities as to provide adequate support to customers and sales force. (daily)
- Understands, anticipates, and defines market segments and applications for the customer and customer needs and to successfully translate this information into actionable market plans and products that satisfy those needs while maintaining consistency with Shimadzus profit and business objectives. (daily)
- Develops business plan including product strategies, positioning, pricing, and promotional strategy for the national accounts business. Provides market, industry, and competitive analysis. Develops marketing strategies involving product, pricing, potential placement, and promotion. (weekly)
- Updates business and market tactics as necessary based on up-to-date market requirements and provides information for Shimadzu R&D, Shimadzu field sales, and management. (weekly)
- Works closely with the sales organization to evaluate competitive issues and provides appropriate training to deal with competitive issues, new applications, and market changes. (daily)
- Assumes responsibility for the promotion of the national account marketing and represents the national accounts support at conferences, seminars and other marketing or media events. (weekly)
- Plan, coordinate, and present technical marketing presentations at conferences trade shows and at National Accounts. (weekly)
- Coordinates promotional materials, presentations, publications, application notes or other technical materials as needed to provide adequate information to customer and sales force. (weekly)
- Develops market research for potential new products and technologies. Plans new applications-oriented systems or components by working with customers, marketing, research and development engineers by providing information and assistance during design phase. (weekly).
- Continues to support the Academic SPARQ and grants opportunities. (weekly)
- Coordinates or manages efforts, by working with respective managers, product specialists, sales specialists, and support personnel related to the national account business development. (daily)
- Domestic and International travel as required. (weekly)
- Coordinates regular communication among the various reps from across the country for each specific national account to ensure alignment of activities and opportunities. (weekly)
SCOPE:
The National Accounts Business Development Manager primary focus will be to assume primary responsibility for coordinating communication and support for all the N. America National accounts for which SSI has a nationwide agreement. In this role, the focus is predominantly external communication with central or primary purchasing agents, that is specific account focused, as opposed to merely market or product. The National Accounts Manager role is a combination of externally oriented tactical and strategic sales & marketing functions to assist SSI in achieving sales by building and maintaining good relations with key influencers and decision makers both outside and inside Shimadzu. The National Accounts manager will create and maintain the business plan for growth and work with the appropriate directors, marketing managers and product managers towards this plan. In this role, the National Accounts Manager will articulate Shimadzus competence and present through a variety of techniques, the advantages and benefits of our products, support and services. In support of the various field reps at different locations, the National Accounts Manager will perform marketing research, competitive analysis, and evaluation of existing customers and potential prospects to determine account-based marketing needs. This person will also interface with key industry thought leaders, decision makers and strategic partners within these accounts to determine how to position our products and services and to determine how to correctly communicate information. The National Accounts Manager will also be responsible for managing the Academic SPARQ and grant programs.

PROBLEM SOLVING REQUIREMENTS:
The incumbent must be proficient at operating in an independent fashion within the guidelines and goals set by the Director of Business Development and the Sr. Vice President of Sales and Marketing. Good knowledge and experience of the industry and applications is a must. The position requires the ability to work among diverse group and allocate limited resources efficiently. This person is pivotal in the success of the national account development.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
Incumbent must have a bachelors degree in Science or business, while an advanced degree is highly preferred. Minimum of five years experience in instrumentation market/sales, additional experience as application chemist is preferred. Global experience a plus. Position requires excellent written, administrative, and oral communication skills including presentation experience to large and diverse audiences. Attention to detail and strong customer service skills are required along with a dependable work ethic.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
The position requires frequent lifting (or by other means for movement) of boxes and computer components/parts. Physical demands may include frequent bending; stooping, squatting, standing, walking, sitting for long periods of time and pulling/pushing of parts can also be expected. Incumbent must be able to lift-up to 25 pounds routinely throughout the day. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision and depth perception
SAFETY/PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT:
The position is required to maintain proper housekeeping and safety standards in-particular those related to lab safety protocol. Proper use of personal protective equipment and safety devices as required by the Corporate Safety Document policies and procedures and/or customers dictated policy is required.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
This position is based in an office area that requires regular and predictable attendance. It will involve working alone on projects and collaborating as part of team. Incumbent may work at different workstations during the day and travel to regional locations/customers in-order to support the information technology needs of all company employees. Extra hours may periodically be required, in order to fulfill the functions required by this position. The position will include contact with all SSI employees and requires prompt and friendly handling of all related inquires.
