The Retail Operations Sales Assistant is skilled in all aspects of the Walters Museum Store and Caf. They carry out on a routine basis the merchandise and customer service strategies set forth by the Manager of Retail Operations and report to the Floor Supervisor to ensure the efficient daily operation of the Museum Store and Cafe. They provide the highest level of customer service to all of the Walters Museum visitors by assuring attractive displays, adequate levels of stock and efficient and accurate processing of sales.

Experience: Two years retail experience is preferred.

Knowledge: Computer literate; art/museum related background a plus.

Skills: Excellent written, verbal communication skills, proficient in interacting with customers, skillful in selling techniques.

Must be a team player and competent in meeting assigned targets/tasks.

Abilities: Positive attitude, flexible, able to multi-task and problem solve, willing to learn.

Working Conditions: Requires lifting 20-30 pound boxes of merchandise. Some light cleaning required, including mild cleaning detergents. Must be comfortable serving hot and cold beverages including alcohol.

Core Work Hours: 40 hours per week; Flexible between Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday with some evening hours on Thursday.
