Position Summary:

The Inside Sales Manager provides direction and oversight of the Instrumentation Inside Sales team as it relates to quotations and customer service for all customers, distributors, and field sales representatives. The Inside Sales Manager is responsible for driving a team towards performance objectives with the ultimate goal of delivering a world-class customer experience to all internal and external customers. This position will manage customer relationships and communications by leading teams from request for quote, order entry, through the shipment of the order. The position will also be responsible for applying the appropriate knowledge, skills, tools, and techniques to develop the team to manage the different quotations/order management processes and leverage the necessary resources to successfully bring a customer quote/order/project to completion. The position reports to the Site Leader, located in Spartanburg, South Carolina.



Principle Duties (includes, but may not be limited to):

  • Provide leadership to the Inside Sales team in efforts to meet the needs of our customers and the business performance of the Spartanburg site
  • Works closely with the Field Sales and Business Line Managers to formulate quotation or project strategies.
  • Drive the daily execution of standard work across the Inside Sales organization and proactively share/receive information with other CP&E entities to drive best practices through improvements against the measurements of Lead Time, On-Time Delivery, Hit Rate and Quality
  • Personal engagement with customers on issues that are escalated by the Inside Sales team or Field Sales.
  • Utilize the Crane Business System tools for developing our intellectual capital, to continuously strengthen your team and their performance, as well as building a talent pipeline for field sales and other areas of the organization.
  • Drives project management processes, facilitating planning and tracking of project orders from order receipt to shipment.
  • In conjunction with the Import/Export Compliance Coordinator, ensure compliance with United States Government Export Laws for the site operations and offers guidance and assistance as it relates to the application of those laws to the subsidiary operations.
  • Represents the site as appropriate in its relations with customers and suppliers.
  • Participates actively in the Crane Business System processes including Kaizen team involvement, problem solving, and recommending solutions to enhance and improve the quality of departmental and/or company-wide business activities.
  • Supports the strategic development planning process through understanding and effective communication of customer needs.
  • Maintain and execute action plans and drive cadence reviews to track ongoing performance, ensure key performance indicators, and project deadlines are achieved.


QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE:

  • B.S. in engineering or business degree preferred.
  • Minimum 3 years experience in a supervisory role in a manufacturing company preferred.
  • Experience in Customer Service / Customer-Facing roles while performing order management activities.
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Able to create and sustain a culture of urgency and accountability.
  • Hands-on experience with an ERP system (ex. JD Edwards, QAD, Oracle, SAP).
  • Technical skills sufficient to understand process & product specifications.
  • Experience in contract reviews for technical and commercial terms & conditions.
  • Ability to read, interpret, and action drawings and detailed specifications.
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Project, and ability to query multiple systems.
  • Experience with CRM software applications preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to navigate and influence the organization and escalate issues when necessary.
  • Willingness to travel 15% (includes regional and global travel).
  • Ability to prioritize tasks while being flexible to the needs and changes of management and customers.
