Account Manager
Starting Pay $47,000-$55,000, depending on experience. Sounds good, right?!
This is not a commission based position.
This position is eligible for 50% telecommuting after initial training period and satisfactory job performance.

What we are looking for
A self-motivated and assertive person who responds to and initiates face-to-face, telephone, email, and written communications with policyholders/ prospects for the purpose of selling and servicing AFI (includes AFI and AFIA) products.
Core Functions
- Operating within specified call volume parameters, delivers timely and accurate responses to inquiries from current and prospective policyholders
- Consistent with underwriting standards, generates new policyholders and upgrades coverages of current customers by effectively promoting AFIs products and services
Whats a typical day look like
- Gathers required information from policyholder and computer systems in order to provide appropriate and accurate response that is consistent with established AFI policies and procedures;
- Conducts assessment of current or prospective risk in order to provide a recommendation of acceptance through AFI, additional underwriting review, or declination of risk;
- Makes outbound calls to customers or interested third parties to provide or obtain additional information, follow up on previous contacts, or provide counsel on insurance decisions;
- Promotes issuance of coverage (or upgraded coverage) with AFI by responding to the policyholder/prospects insurance needs and providing solutions consistent with AFIs business and underwriting requirements;
- Collects and transmits to appropriate AFI premiums generated by new business and installment payments. Takes collections action relating to non-sufficient funds checks received in payment for Agency partner policies;
- Maintains current knowledge of appropriate state requirements and AFI policy terms to assure regulatory compliance and accuracy of information provided to customers;
QUALIFICATIONS
Must Have Qualifications
- 4 years of customer service experience in a financial services environment, ( a combination of up to 4 years of higher education, college credit hours, Associate's Degree, or BA/BS Degree may be substituted for experience)
- Or currently a licensed representative in a property/casualty insurance company
- Keyboard skills of at least 35 wpm
- Competent written communications skills
Nice to Have Qualifications
- Excellent verbal communications skills, to include a courteous, confident demeanor and appropriate use of grammar and vocabulary
- Working knowledge of MS Outlook, Excel and Word
- Demonstrates sound judgment and decision-making skills
- Ability to accomplish work according to established priorities and procedures
What professional education requirements do I need to obtain
- Ability to obtain the state agents license within 90 days in the position, and to maintain an unrestricted license thereafter*
- Completion of insurance designation or equivalent professional designation within 33 months in the position
- if incumbent did not have prior experience in a position with this requirement
The physical requirements and working environment stuff
- The work is primarily sedentary. The employee will generally be seated to perform the work, but will also do some walking, standing, bending, and carrying of light items (less than 10 lbs.).
- The noise level of the work is low. The area is adequately lighted, heated, and ventilated.
- The working hours will be traditional business hours. Incumbent must be able to work a flexible schedule and overtime as required.
