Business Development Specialist

Department: Sales/Business Development

Classification: Salaried Not Eligible for Overtime

Job Summary: The successful candidate will be a brand ambassador for the company passionately pursuing new accounts while working to grow existing account relationships. The candidate is expected to leverage company resources to consistently provide complete bulk material handling solutions to operational problems related to storage, processing, conveying, and safety based on customer needs.

The candidate will be expected to network with business leaders and other sales professionals to develop market awareness and provide sales qualified leads to our Business Development Team and Project Managers.

Duties & Responsibilities:

The main objective of this position is to generate new client accounts that meet Jenikes objective for long term sales. The following list represents the essential duties and behaviors of a successful Jenike Technical Sales role:

  • Spend at least 50% of time prospecting for new accounts.
  • Identify problem areas holding us back in strategic and target accounts.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients through consistent presence in account and timely response to customer requests.
  • Actively participate in our sales training program and embrace the Jenike process.
  • Consistently use CRM to maintain accurate account profiles, account/sales activity.
  • Travel to client site for key meetings to advance our involvement.
  • Attend trade shows maintaining a professional appearance in the trade show booth.
  • Properly brief project managers on all required aspects of a sold opportunity.
  • Interface with marketing and contribute to marketing activities.
  • Participate in other duties, as directed.

Required Skills & Abilities:

  • Superior verbal and written communication skills in English, foreign languages are a plus, notably Spanish and Portuguese.
  • Comfortable interacting and socializing with a variety of personality types, both in person, at events, remotely, and on the telephone.
  • At ease interacting with owners and senior executives in a professional/social setting.
  • Able to have high level discussions with business leaders about business issues such as ROI, profitability, long term growth plans, etc.
  • Able to have technical conversations with line level managers and supervisors about specifics of a given material handling solution
  • Good work ethic with a strong sense of collaboration.
  • Good sense of fairness and business ethics.
  • Ability to prepare sales presentations, marketing materials, and proposals.

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor degree in business/communications or engineering from an accredited university.
  • Minimum 5 years sales experience with industrial equipment/services.
  • Proficiency in CRM and MS Office suite.
  • Team selling mentality.
  • Good prospecting and networking skills.
  • Must have valid driver's license and passport, or ability to obtain one by employment.

Work is performed mostly in office, at a client site, or a trade show. Must be capable of meeting customer site safety requirements.

Other Requirements:

  • Travel is required up to ~50% of the time.
