Job Title: Applications Engineer

Location: Hopkins, Michigan

Terms: Full Time

Reports to: CEO

Job Description:

The Applications Engineer will support SP Industries Sales effort by developing creative solutions in the compacting, crushing, dumping, and general material handling space. This role will be involved in developing project pricing while working closely with many departments, including the Engineering, Sales, Customer Service, and Production Teams. Additionally, this role will support ongoing customer needs, and be the front line resource for technical support and warranty calls.

Responsibilities:

• Work closely with the Sales team to learn the customer needs, define the right equipment solution, and provide technical support and expertise.
• Perform application assessments (at times onsite), and work together with the sales team to concept and cost equipment solutions.
• Prepare and review cost estimates.
• Collaborate with Engineering to determine equipment/facility layouts and project feasibility.
• Follow projects from initial contact to final shipment with some light project management activities throughout the project.
• Be a technical resource for level one product support, post-sale.
• Utilize SPs ERP System (ECI M1) to input part and project data.
• Provide expertise to Sales and customers regarding SP Industries product offerings and capabilities.
• Attend meetings with customers, either in a support role or making presentations.
• Help identify product development priorities and communicate these throughout the organization.
• Any other duties assigned by the company.

Requirements:

• Understanding of fabrication, manufacturing, complex metal & mechanical assemblies.
• Computer skills: SOLIDWORKS (preferred), Microsoft Office (especially Excel).
• Excellent communication skills - written and verbal.
• Ability to work well within a team environment.
• Strong organizational skills.
• Self-starter who will take initiative to identify issues and pursue resolutions.
• Must work well in high-pressure situations.
• Bachelors degree in engineering, Business, or related field preferred.
• 3-5 years relevant experience
• Ability to manage multiple opportunities with various deadlines simultaneously.
• Reliably forecast and report on proposal status.
• Architectural knowledge in electrical, mechanical, and software products.
• Able to travel anywhere in North America up to 20% may be required.
• Valid drivers license in proper standing and a reliable vehicle.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $65,000.00 - $75,000.00 per year
