Located in the heart of Silicon Valley, San Jose's diversity and growing economy make it a great place to live. Even with a population of over 1.9 million, the city still has small-town charm. With an average of 300 days of sunshine each year, there is plenty to get outside to do in San Jose. Alum Rock Park is a local favorite spot to go for a hike, bike, picnic or view wildlife. But if nature isn't your thing there are quite of few fantastic museums such as the SJMA (San Jose Museum of Art) and of course The Tech Museum of Innovation which includes hands-on science and tech exhibits and hosts design competition and programs. The food scene in San Jose is eclectic with everything from American to Indian and everything in between. Downtown is definitely a hopping place, but for a quiet place to live, the neighborhood of Willow Glen is a favorite area for families. The tree-lined streets are full of boutiques and coffee-shops, giving off a small-town vibe. For fun day trip options San Jose is the perfect location between San Francisco, Berkeley, and the world-renown Napa Valley. If you like to hit the beach Santa Cruz, Monterey and Pebble Beach are all within about 75 miles and Yosemite National Park is just a four hour drive away.
When it comes to your sales job search, your network is your most valuable asset. In San Jose there are plenty of networking groups so when you find one of interest, be sure to make the most of it. Your ask should always be to get one person closer - ask for an introduction to a friend in the role you want to work in, a recruiter at their company or an industry you want to know more about. It can feel awkward at first, but the more you meet people for coffee, talk to them, the easier it gets. Not to mention, this is a huge part of sales, so you definitely should sharpen this skill if you haven't already. Start by asking a new person you meet about their story, their career, the decision they made to get to where they are. The more questions you ask, the more you will learn about potential job opportunities and at the same time, you'll build a bond with this person and therefore they will be more likely to introduce you to someone else.
